The Department of Prosthodontics conducted an international CDE program on “Introduction to Maxillofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation – Past, Present, and Future” in an online platform on 5th May 2023.
Speaker:The Speaker was Ms. Naimesha Patel, Senior Faculty, Academic Centre of Reconstructive Science (ACRS) at King’s College London. It was facilitated as an initial part of signing MOU between both the institutes.
No. of participants:Faculties, and PG students of SRM dental college, Ramapuram attended the program. A total of 63 participants attended this lecture.It was a continuation of first part of the program conducted on 18th April 2023. The resource person shared vast knowledge with detailed lecturing from the basics till the recent advancements in maxillofacial prosthetic (MFP) rehabilitation. Different MFP clinical scenarios were shown and its effective management was thereby explained. Participants appreciated the distinctness of each case and its management. Several queries were put forwarded by the students and it was patiently clarified by the speaker.
Benefits:A better understanding of MFP rehabilitation modalities at national and international domains was perceived. This start-up program, is desired to be continued over the years with definitive understanding between both the departments. By this way, students and faculties of SRM dental college, get exposed to international teachers, clinical and laboratory facilities available at international institutes.This helps in sharing of knowledge and thoughtsbetween experts. Signing of this MOU, becomes an unique selling point (USP) for the department of prosthodontics, as an open opportunity is provided to international student/faculty exchange program to learn, experience, and acquire maxillofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation expertise. Live demonstration of maxillofacial defects’ patient management is planned in subsequent series of programs.
